AFC Bournemouth’s plans for enabling works linked to the expansion of Vitality Stadium are expected to go before BCP Council’s east planning committee.
Submitted in September, the application covers a new perimeter fence with turnstiles, extensions to the main stand, foundations for a new south stand, and a revamped broadcasting area.
The public consultation period closed on November 10, drawing 24 responses from neighbours and six from official consultees. Sport England was among those who raised no objections. Of the neighbour comments, four supported the scheme, 17 opposed it, and three offered neutral remarks.
This application represents the first stage of planning approval for the club’s wider redevelopment plans, which would increase the stadium’s capacity to more than 20,000. As previously reported by the Daily Echo, a new south stand of roughly 7,000 seats could be constructed over the summer—ready for the start of next season—if permission is granted.
Several key steps have already been completed, including confirmation that an environmental impact assessment is not required and approval for the club to take on a lease for nearby land in Kings Park.
Although the enabling works are not listed on the committee’s November agenda, the application may be considered at the next meeting on December 18.
