After a huge build-up and a field of over 180 cars, last night’s 21st Annual Rookie Banger Championship of the World exploded into life at Ringwood Raceway. The oval reverberated with excitement as drivers, fans and mechanics gathered for an unforgettable night of destruction, spectacle and raw racing competitiveness.
💥 The Action
Drivers from across the UK arrived early to make the most of the gates opening at midday and prepare their machines for the main event: the chase for the Gold Roof. The packed stadium, the crashes, and the roar of engines made it clear why this is one of grassroots motorsport’s most anticipated nights.
Qualifying heats set the tone – fierce, aggressive and unpredictable – before the ultimate 60-car World Final. In memory of the late race steward Dave Driscoll, the Rookie Wrecker Destruction Derby added an extra layer of emotion to the chaos.

🏆 The Winner
The champion battled through the field, survived the heat, and claimed the top prize under the floodlights. While full official results are still being published by Ringwood Raceway, we can confirm the night lived up to its billing: big cars, big hits, new names rising, and old favourites under pressure.
📣 What It Means
For fans, it was a night to remember. For drivers, a chance to stamp their name in the record books. And for the sport of rookie banger racing, a reminder that raw passion and community spirit are as alive as ever. With Tony Smith Kitchens backing the event once again, the future of this championship looks bright.
