Swanage and Wareham Hockey earn win over Havant IIIs

Swanage & Wareham (I) 2–1 Havant (III)

Swanage & Wareham battled both the weather and a determined Havant side to secure a hard-earned 2–1 victory on a rain-soaked afternoon.

Despite the downpour, the Swans started strongly, applying early pressure that paid off when Robyn Murray opened the scoring with a well-struck finish after a sustained spell of attacking play.

Boosted by the opener, the home side maintained control and continued to press high up the pitch. Their persistence was rewarded again before half-time, with Tomo doubling the lead to give the Swans a deserved 2–0 advantage at the break.

Havant increased their intensity in the second half, pushing higher and testing the Swanage defence. The Swans continued to dominate possession and created numerous circle entries, but were unable to extend their lead.

A pivotal moment came when goalkeeper Leah Rutter made a superb low save to deny what looked like a certain Havant goal. Although the visitors eventually pulled one back to make it 2–1, Swanage held firm to see out a tense final few minutes and secure the win.

Swanage & Wareham (II) 10–1 Bournemouth (V)

The Swans’ second team delivered an outstanding performance on home turf, powering to a commanding 10–1 win over Bournemouth 5s.

From the first whistle, Swanage demonstrated determination, sharp teamwork, and relentless attacking pressure. Crisp passing and strong communication kept them in full control throughout, with goals coming thick and fast. Charlotte, Laura, Bev, and Anna all found the net in a display of clinical finishing and attacking flair.

Captain Anna Muir praised her side’s effort, saying:
“I’m extremely proud of everyone today — the determination, the teamwork, and the energy from start to finish were outstanding.”

Salisbury (VI) 3 – 1 Swanage & Wareham (III)

A mix-up with travel arrangements meant the third team began their match with only 10 players, and Salisbury took full advantage, scoring twice before half-time.

The Swans regrouped and responded well in the second half, pulling a goal back to make it 2–1 and applying sustained pressure as they searched for an equaliser. Despite their efforts, Salisbury held strong and added a late third to seal the victory.
