Dorset Premier League 2025/26 – Matchday Seven Preview

Published:

6 September – Dorset Premier League

Round seven of the Dorset Premier League brings a number of eye-catching top-of-the-table encounters.

Unbeaten league leaders Cobham Sports face a stern test at Merley Park as they take on Swanage Town & Herston. Only two points separate the sides, and with both expected to be title contenders this season, each will be desperate to claim all three points.

Second-placed Bournemouth Electric, the league’s only other unbeaten team, make the trip west to face Dorchester Sports at the Avenue. Ashley James’ Dorchester side sit sixth, five points back, and will be eager to cut the gap on their rivals.

Holt United travel to a rejuvenated Blandford United, who have bounced back from defeats to Cobham and Swanage with three straight wins. Holt, meanwhile, remain in strong form, winning five of their six matches so far to occupy third place.

Balti Sports, representing Weymouth, will look to regain momentum after two defeats and a draw in recent weeks. They welcome winless Gillingham Town to Weymouth College in hopes of turning their form around.

At the foot of the table, Bridport Reserves host Poole Borough at St Mary’s, with both sides still searching for their first victory of the campaign. Another winless team, Portland United Reserves, travel to Raleigh Grove to take on Sherborne Town Reserves.

Elsewhere, Verwood Town meet Hamworthy Recreation Reserves at Potterne Park, Westland Sports host Bournemouth Sports, and Wimborne Town Reserves take on Hamworthy United Reserves.

All fixtures kick off at 3pm on Saturday, September 6.
