Goalkeeper Max Evans joins Weymouth until end of season

Weymouth have completed the signing of goalkeeper Max Evans until the end of the season following a successful loan spell.

Evans joined the Terras from AFC Totton at the end of December and quickly became a fan favourite with a string of impressive performances. The shot-stopper made an instant impact on his debut, playing a key role in Weymouth’s 2–1 derby victory over Dorchester after saving a penalty from Joe Parker and a free kick from Charlie Wooding.

Over the past month, Evans has established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and, following the conclusion of his month-long loan with the Stags, has now signed permanently with the Dorset side.

The club also confirmed that defender Luke Bennett has returned to AFC Totton after completing his own loan spell.

In a statement, Weymouth said: “Weymouth Football Club can confirm that Max Evans and Luke Bennett have now completed their loan spells from AFC Totton.

“We would like to thank AFC Totton for their cooperation and wish Luke all the very best for the remainder of the season.

“We’re also pleased to announce that Max Evans has signed for the Terras until the end of the season. We’re delighted he’ll continue with us as we push on.”
